Little things encased in ice

These pictures were taken near Hood River, Oregon, on our first anniversary trip. Along the Old Columbia Highway are a lot of waterfalls, most people don't know that there are about 8 different, very beautiful waterfalls to be seen, along this route, they just stop at Multnomah Falls and call it a day. Multnomah Falls is gorgeous and stunning, don't get me wrong, but I think that if you have time, you really should see them all. Each one is completely different and unique.
A couple can be seen from the road and others require a short walk to be seen. All of them have walks/hikes and some of them have several different choices everything from 15 minute jaunts to 12 hour hikes that take you along the entire ridge above the Columbia gorge.

This lovely little leaf is from a black berry branch. Because of the incredible winds that whip through the gorge there is a lot of spray from the waterfalls. During the summer this is a wonderful way to cool off while hiking. During the winter it is a different case altogether. While still an amazing thing, the spray settles over everything and leaves a thick coating of ice over everything: leaves, branches, rocks, calm pools of water, and trails. Which, makes you want to take a picture of EVERYTHING :-)
